BASIC TRAUMA AWARENESS

1-HOUR INTRODUCTION – £69

INTRODUCTION TO SAFE PRACTICES & SERVICES

This one-hour online webinar is aimed at health and social-care practitioners, volunteers and professionals who want to understand and support clients and service users from a trauma aware perspective.

The session will introduce basic trauma-informed concepts and principles to help create psychologically safe working environments and introduce effective, evidence-based approaches and practices.

With an emphasis on how stress can be stored in our nervous system, and how sensory experiencing can help and/or hinder our overall sense of wellbeing, the webinar will introduce strategies for helping release past tensions and generate healthy new ways to respond to significant challenges in life.

Participants can use these strategies personally for self-care purposes, as well as apply them as part of their support for clients.

Key elements of the short course:

  1. Overview of basic terminology used in relation to trauma and trauma-informed practices
  2. Understanding how individuals and families commonly respond to traumatic experiences
  3. Outline of key concepts and principles for trauma-aware services
  4. Introduction to basic trauma informed strategies or techniques that can be used with clients and service users
  5. Summary of self-care actions

By the end of this short course, participants will feel more motivated and confident about recognising and responding appropriately to clients and service users who have experienced trauma.
